WoW Forever Leveling Guide: How to Reach Level 60
Prepare for WoW Forever's 1–60 journey with leveling tips, dungeon choices, camping, professions, and a clear look at what is known before launch.
Pre-launch guide. Last checked: October 31, 2026. WoW: Forever launches on November 4 in the Americas and November 5 in much of Europe. Beta testing reached level 30, so this guide separates what Blizzard has announced from routes and completion times that still need to be tested after launch.
The road to level 60 starts with a character you enjoy, a few quests in your starting area, and a plan that fits your playtime. As you progress, you can mix outdoor quests, five-player dungeons, professions, and shared campsites. There is no verified fastest 1–60 route yet.
If you are coming from modern WoW or Classic, remember that Forever has its own quests, class changes, and systems. Familiar locations are a useful starting point, but an old route is not automatically the best route here. Blizzard outlines the new areas and systems in its Forever launch guide.
1Choose your character and get ready

Start by picking a class whose combat style you enjoy. You will spend a lot of time with it on the way to 60, so think about what you want to do between quests as well as the role you want at the end:
- Want to lead groups? Consider a class with a tank specialization and practice holding enemy attention when you start dungeons.
- Want to keep teammates alive? Choose a class with a healing specialization and learn when to save mana for harder pulls.
- Prefer dealing damage? Pick between melee and ranged combat, then check whether you enjoy the class's tools and resource management.
A class can offer more than one role, but its options depend on the class you choose. If you plan to play with friends, agree on a region, faction, and ruleset before creating characters. Blizzard says Forever uses rulesets instead of traditional realm selection, and players cannot group across factions or rulesets. A PvP ruleset may bring player combat into your travels; choose it because you want that extra uncertainty, not because a guide says it is faster.
Forever adds race and class combinations that were unavailable in the original game. For example, Blizzard lists Human Hunters and Dwarf Shamans for the Alliance, and Orc Mages and Undead Paladins for the Horde. Skyborne can choose a faction, with some class choices depending on that faction. Check access and edition details before planning around Skyborne: Blizzard lists the race in its optional upgrade packs. Blizzard's character overview, Forever upgrade details
Launch time: Blizzard lists the global launch as November 4 at 3:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. That is November 4 at 6:00 p.m. Eastern and 11:00 p.m. in the UK, or November 5 at midnight in Warsaw. Times are simultaneous; check Blizzard's announcement for any changes.
2Build a questing routine for levels 1–30

Your first goal is to get comfortable moving, fighting, and reading your quest log. Start with the quests around your starting settlement, then follow the leads that take you to the next hub. When several quests send you toward the same area, pick them up together before leaving town.
A simple loop works well for a short session:
- At the hub: Pick up quests you intend to do and check your bags, equipment, and repairs.
- On the road: Complete nearby objectives together. If a quest asks you to fight a difficult enemy or enter a dangerous area, look for other players rather than repeatedly dying alone.
- Before leaving the area: Check your map and quest log for unfinished objectives nearby. Decide whether they fit your current level and the time you have left.
- Back in town: Turn in quests, visit your class trainer when useful, sell items you do not need, and set up your next trip.
Pick up flight paths as you find them and consider where your hearthstone will save a return journey. Travel is part of the route, so a quest that looks quick on the map may take longer if it sends you across several zones. Keep space in your bags for quest items and loot.
The beta reached level 30, so reports from those early levels can help you prepare. Results still depend on class, faction, other players, and launch changes. Blizzard's October 1 beta update raised the test cap to 30; it is not evidence that a full 1–60 route has been tested.
What if a questing area is crowded?
At launch, you may wait for creatures or quest objects alongside other players. Check whether you can group for the objective, move to another suitable quest nearby, or take a break to train and organize your bags. Do not abandon a fun route after one busy hour: population can change throughout the day.
3Add dungeons when the trip makes sense

Dungeons are five-player adventures with tougher enemies, bosses, quests, and rewards. They can be a good change of pace when you have a group and enough time to travel, clear the instance, and turn in any related quests. Outdoor questing remains a practical choice when you have a shorter session or cannot find a group.
Before you leave for a dungeon:
- Check its level range and entrance location.
- Ask your group what roles it needs and whether everyone knows how to reach the entrance.
- Look for relevant dungeon quests before the run, but check their level requirements and travel time.
- Repair, clear bag space, and bring food or other supplies your character needs.
- Agree on a realistic pace. A first run is a good time to learn the encounters and help each other.
Blizzard has announced nine new dungeons across the leveling journey. These examples show how widely the locations and level ranges vary:
| Dungeon | Announced level range | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Hall of Thanes | 13–18 | Dun Morogh, beneath Ironforge |
| Ruins of Lordaeron | 15–20 | Tirisfal Glades, above the Undercity |
| Excavation Site | 24–29* | Wetlands |
| City of Dalaran | 28–33 | Alterac Mountains |
| The Drowned City | 35–40 | Off the coast of Stranglethorn Vale |
| Krol'dok Stronghold | 40–45 | Riverglades |
| Alcaz Prison | 48–53 | Dustwallow Marsh |
| Blackmaw Hold | 55–60 | Azshara |
| Shaper's Terrace | 58–60 | Un'Goro Crater |
*Blizzard’s October 20 dungeon overview lists Excavation Site at 24–29, while its October 1 beta notes list 26–31. Check the in-game range at launch. These are Blizzard's announced ranges, not a promise that every dungeon is the best experience per hour. Hall of Thanes is easier for Alliance players to reach from Ironforge; Horde groups must travel into Alliance territory. The opposite applies to Ruins of Lordaeron. Check the full official dungeon overview for the locations and access notes.
Questing or repeating dungeons?
Compare the whole session, not just the boss kills: include finding a group, traveling, deaths, repairs, and quest turn-ins. During the beta, Blizzard reduced the extra experience on dungeon quests beyond normal quest values, then increased dungeon creature experience in a later update. Those were test changes; check the development notes and launch information before relying on a particular XP strategy. A dungeon can still be worth doing for its quests, gear, or the experience of playing with friends.
4Use camps and professions along the way

Professions give you another reason to explore, whether you want to gather materials, make equipment, or prepare supplies. Pick activities you expect to use. A profession detour can be enjoyable and provide useful items, but it also takes time and may consume materials you could sell or save.
Forever's Camping system adds shared outdoor campsites. Blizzard says players can add profession-made features to a camp, then sit or craft there for at least one minute to gain their benefits. Some camp buffs are mutually exclusive with equivalent class buffs, so check what your group already has before deciding what to use. Blizzard's Camping overview
A practical approach is to gather or craft while you are already in the area. If you spot a useful camp on your route, check its available features and take a moment to prepare before the next stretch. Treat a camp as a tool for your session, not a guaranteed leveling-speed boost.
Forever also introduces account-wide Legacy progression. Blizzard describes it as a system that rewards exploring different parts of the game; leveling multiple characters is encouraged but not required to benefit. The beta granted testers access to certain progression for testing, so do not assume every beta unlock will be available on a fresh launch character. Forever systems overview
5Plan for levels 30–60 without relying on an untested route

Blizzard has announced new and reimagined areas along the journey, including the Riverglades and Mount Hyjal. It describes the Riverglades as part of the mid-30s to mid-40s experience. That helps you understand what is coming, but it does not establish an optimal order of quests, exact experience gains, or the fastest path to 60. Blizzard's Forever preview
For the second half of your journey, use a flexible plan:
- Check the level of your current quests and finish nearby objectives that still make sense for your character.
- Compare the travel time to the next quest hub or dungeon with the time you have available.
- Review your gear and class abilities before entering a harder area.
- Run a new dungeon when you have a suitable group and want its quests, rewards, or encounters.
- Adjust after launch as players test the full game and Blizzard publishes updates.
If you use a route from Classic, check every recommendation against Forever's quest log and current map. It may point you toward a familiar zone, but new quests, dungeon changes, and later updates can change the best choice.
A quick checklist before your next session
- Choose a goal that fits your time: a quest hub, a profession task, or one dungeon.
- Check your bags, repairs, food, and the location of your hearthstone.
- Group nearby objectives to reduce unnecessary backtracking.
- Pick up useful flight paths as you travel.
- Save a dungeon trip for when you can find a group and have time to reach it.
- Recheck current information after launch, especially for levels 31–60.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to reach level 60 in WoW Forever?
There is no reliable full-game estimate yet. The beta reached level 30, and class, route, group availability, population, and playstyle will affect the result. Treat exact pre-launch claims with caution until the live game has been tested.
Is dungeon leveling faster than questing?
There is no verified winner for the full 1–60 journey. Dungeons offer quests and rewards, but group-finding and travel take time. Try both and compare how much progress you make during a session you actually enjoy.
Do I need to level several characters for the Legacy system?
No. Blizzard says playing multiple characters is encouraged but not required to benefit from Legacy progression. Explore the system at your own pace.
Is WoW Forever the same as WoW Classic?
Forever returns to the original continents but adds and changes content, including quests, dungeons, class options, and systems. Use Forever-specific guides and check the date when following an older Classic route.
Save time on your journey
Some players enjoy every quest on the way to 60. Others have less time to spend leveling and want to focus on the parts of Azeroth they enjoy most.
